What it costs

Labor is a large part of any price. Long Island home appliance repairers earn a median $77,812 a year, from about $45,427 at entry level to $79,391 with experience. (New York State Department of Labor, wages updated to the first quarter of 2026.)

Appliance repair prices turn on the appliance, the part, the diagnosis and the labor. See the appliance repair cost guide.

What to ask before you hire

  • Your county license number, so I can check it before I sign?
  • A certificate of insurance sent to me by your insurer, not a photo?
  • Is there a diagnostic fee, and does it count toward the repair?
  • Is the appliance worth repairing, given its age and the cost?
  • Are parts and labor guaranteed, and for how long?
  • For gas appliances: who checks the gas connection?
