What we check before we introduce anyone
Before a company joins the network
- County home improvement license. A current Nassau or Suffolk County license for each county the contractor works in, looked up on the county's own records, plus any town license the East End requires.
- Trade licenses where the work needs them. For mold work, the New York State Department of Labor licenses assessors and remediators separately.
- Insurance. A certificate of insurance sent to us by the contractor's insurance agent, with the policy dates recorded so we know when to check again.
- Reviews read. We read the contractor's public reviews and complaint history. We do not publish or rank them.
- A reference. One recent homeowner we speak with ourselves.
- A signed partner agreement that requires written contracts that follow New York's home improvement contract law, protection of homeowner deposits, Do Not Call compliance, and no resale of homeowner information.
At every introduction
- 1License re-checkedOn the county's records, the same day the introduction goes out.
- 2Insurance re-checkedAgainst the policy dates on file.
- 3Any tie namedIf Revival or one of its owners has a personal or business tie to the contractor, the introduction says so in writing.
- 4Your signed consentNothing about you goes to a contractor until you sign a consent that names that contractor, its license number and the phone number it may call.
Lines we do not cross
- No pay-to-rank and no paid placement on this site.
- On a mold job, the company that assesses the mold never removes it. New York's mold law bars one licensee from doing both on the same property.
- No borrowed licenses: the contractor introduced is the licensed company that will sign your contract.
Questions homeowners ask
Does Revival rank contractors?
No. We do not publish rankings, star ratings or best-of lists. A contractor either meets these standards and is in the network, or it is not.
Can a contractor pay for more introductions or a better position?
No. An introduction depends only on the job, the license the work needs and the area the contractor covers. Nobody can pay for more introductions, a better position or a mention on this site.
What happens if a partner's license or insurance lapses?
Introductions stop until it is current again. We check both at every introduction, not just when a contractor joins.

Talk the job through before you call anyone
Tell us about the house and the job in about four minutes. Revival calls you, free, to go over the scope, the budget, the timing and your town's permit office. Contractor matches open as our first licensed partners sign.
